Forecast models inched Issac slightly westward on Saturday, predicting a landfall between southeastern Louisiana and the Florida Panhandle.
Along such a track the storm will spend more time over the warm Gulf of Mexico waters, allowing Isaac the opportunity to strengthen into a hurricane, and possibly even a major hurricane, before striking the northern Gulf coast.
