New train debuts at City Park’s Carousel Gardens | WVUE

City Park is unveiling a new train just in time for the opening of the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park. The Black and Gold Train will join City Park's current two trains to take passengers along the two mile track that winds throughout the park.

New Orleans City Park's black swan injured | Daily Comet


Police say New Orleans City Park's lone black swan was injured and the five eggs she was tending in her nest were broken, sometime between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. The vet said he thinks the swan should make a full recovery.

Morning Call to bring beignets to City Park this fall | NOLA.com

Early mornings, late nights and leisurely afternoons in City Park are about to get a little sweeter. This fall, Morning Call will begin serving beignets and café au lait 24 hours a day in the park’s Casino building. The 142-year-old coffee and doughnuts stand is taking over the Casino concessions area previously operated by the park. The new Morning Call in the Oaks menu also will include jambalaya, gumbo, ice cream and other items that have long been Casino staples.

New Orleans City Park getting splash park, miniature golf course | NOLA.com

First up in 2012 is a 36-hole miniature-golf complex that officials plan to open by late summer along Victory Avenue, across from Storyland and the children's amusement park. Next on the to-do list is a splash park proposed for an 8.5-acre site north of the Roosevelt Mall running track, just south of the railroad tracks. Barring any delays, park managers hope to break ground on that project by year's end and open it in summer 2013...

Celebration in the Oaks Run/Walk | New Orleans City Park 12/11/2010

The second Saturday of December gives East Jefferson General Hospital the chance to host an event that is especially popular with families. After running or walking a beautiful 2-mile course through City Park, participants get to see the Celebration in the Oaks Light Display before the gates are open to the general public. The day is filled with cocoa, visits with Santa and much more. Many of those running and walking this event do so with strollers or children right by their side. This year's event is Saturday, December 11, 2010 @ 3:30 PM.

This is one of the most festive holiday events in the country. Runners and walkers are encouraged to come out and check out the beautiful two mile course in City Park. The Park is decorated for the holiday season with over 500,000 lights. Afterward, participants can enjoy themselves at the post-race party and also head into the the Walking Tour of the beautifully decorated Botanical Garden, Storyland and Carousel Gardens...

Saturday, October 9, 2010 in City Park at The Big Lake 2-6 pm — A beer tasting like no other. Come sample 200 different beers while sitting under an oak tree in City Park and enjoying live music by Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes. Did we forget to mention the pub crawl? That’s right, local bars will be sponsoring tables and when you visit the bars and get your beer passport filled you'll get a free shirt. There will also be a food and soda booth. Prepping for the Crescent City Classic

Crescent City Classic, mile 1 marker

At 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, the starter’s pistol will sound and the annual Crescent City Classic will begin at Jackson Square. The CCC is a 10K race -- a 6.2-mile course that will take runners, walkers and wheelchair participants through the streets of New Orleans to City Park where a post-race party will be held. Most of the participants will be expected to finish the race in 2-3 hours.

Lenny Kravitz Added To Voodoo Fest Lineup | Billboard.com

Lenny Kravitz has been added to the bill as a headliner at this year's Voodoo Experience festival in New Orleans, organizers announced today (Sept. 3). The rocker, who just wrapped a 54-city European tour, will close out the final night of the three-day festival on Nov. 1 in City Park.
