We were both new to town, fresh arrivals in New Orleans from the Yankee wilds of New York. We were both entranced by the unique and intoxicating energy of this city and made the commitment to spend our lives here. We had exactly that much in common until Sunday night, and now I sit typing away in a tower on the tip of Canal Street, surrounded by impenetrable fog.
