Opens Wednesday in the former La Thai space
The new Spanish-inspired restaurant from two veterans of Donald Link’s ubiquitous restaurant group opens in Uptown tomorrow, taking over the former La Thai space.
Costera is the result of a partnership between the former chef de cuisine of Warehouse District favorite Peche, Brian Burns, and a longtime Link group manager and sommelier, Reno De Ranieiri. The upscale, shareable menu is inspired by the flavors and style of coastal Spanish dining infused with traditional Louisiana influences, with small plates like blistered shishito peppers and mushroom toast and entrees like paella and octopus-stuffed calamari.
La Thai, the Prytania Street restaurant known for introducing Louisiana-inspired Thai cuisine to New Orleans, closed in December. Diana Chauvin-Gallé, its former chef and co-owner of the Uptown building along with her husband, maintains ownership of the space. Excitingly, Chauvin-Gallé is working on restaurant dedicated to Northern Thai and Laotian street food, and hopes to open in the spring.
Opening tomorrow, Costera’s hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
