A 73-year-old man was walking in City Park when more than one person approached him from behind and struck him in the head Thursday night (April 25), New Orleans police said.
After the suspects demanded his property, the 73-year-old man refused and the suspects fled, police said. It was not clear from an initial police report how many people tried to rob the man.
NOPD reported the simple robbery attempt around 9:35 p.m. near Roosevelt Mall and Victory Avenue.
Earlier on Thursday, a man snatched a 53-year-old man’s wallet from his hand while they were inside a gas station in the 6700 block of Chef Menteur Highway in the Plum Orchard neighborhood, police said. After snatching his wallet around 6 p.m., the robber fled.
NOPD also reported a shooting in which a 17-year-old girl was injured while walking home in the 7th Ward Thursday night, and a homicide in Algiers Thursday afternoon.
