A 29-year-old man was shot several times, eventually collapsing in a Broadway Street driveway after the shooter exited a car and gave chase Wednesday afternoon (April 17), according to New Orleans police.
The shooting victim was standing on the corner of Colapissa and Broadway streets about 1 p.m. when an older-model gray car pulled up and the passenger began firing at the victim, police said.
Investigators believe the shooter then got out of the car and chased the victim for roughly 100 feet along Broadway Street before getting back into the car to flee the scene, police said in an initial report. The car was driven by a woman, the NOPD said.
The victim was shot several times to the torso before collapsing in a driveway in the 3100 block of Broadway, which intersects with Earhart Boulevard, police said. He was taken to a local hospital.
On Wednesday afternoon, investigators had cordoned off the 3100 block of Broadway Street, placing over 35 evidence cones along the street. That included 10 cones at the corner of Colapissa and Broadway streets.
