A 70-year-old Gray man is accused of attempted murder after authorities say he shot his neighbor following an argument about music volume.
According to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Thomas Kennedy admitted to the Tuesday night (April 16) shooting on Cypress Court in Gray.
The wounded neighbor, a 34-year-old man, is expected to recover, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Responding deputies learned that Kennedy had walked to a nearby home and confronted the neighbor as he sat in his vehicle. After a brief argument with the neighbor over the volume of his music, Kennedy pulled a revolver and shot the neighbor in the face, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The wounded man was airlifted to University Medical Center in New Orleans, where he remained in critical but stable condition Wednesday, officials said.
Kennedy called 911 following the shooting and was taken into custody within minutes of the gunfire, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
He was booked into the Lafourche Parish jail with attempted second-degree murder. His bail was set at $1 million, officials said.
