Police have arrested a Pearl River man suspected of fatally shooting a man Friday night (April 26) near Slidell, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Terrell Sylvas, 34, was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on Saturday. He faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled, dangerous substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and failure to appear in court, police said.

Around 11:15 p.m. Friday, deputies found a 54-year-old man with gunshot wounds lying in the driveway of a home on Pine Drive in the River Gardens neighborhood near Slidell (map). The wounded man, who authorities have not yet identified, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said.

Police also found Sylvas at the residence, suffering from an apparent drug overdose, the sheriff’s office said. Sylvas was arrested in connection to the homicide on Saturday after he was released from the hospital.

No other information, including a possible motive, was immediately available. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the shooting.

Authorities ask anyone with information about this crime to call 985-898-2338.
