Suspected would-be burglar shot in New Orleans East: NOPD

New Orleans Police are investigating after a would-be burglar of a New Orleans East business was shot in the leg on Sunday night (April 28).

While the investigation is still in its preliminary stages, police said the business is in the 6700 block of Tara Lane, and the shooting and burglary were reported around 8:35 p.m. Police said the burglar was shot "by the victim.”

At the scene Sunday night, police could be seen lining up dozens of bottles of various drinks, including water, milk, orange juice and Gatorade, outside a donut shop before members of the New Orleans Fire Department hosed down the front of the business at about 9:35 p.m.

Crime scene tape preventing others from entering the area was removed moments later.

It was not immediately clear what, if anything, had been taken from the business.
