A stranger pointed a gun to a 33-year-old woman’s face while she was stopped in her car in the Desire area and ordered her to get out of the vehicle early Friday (April 19), New Orleans police said.
The woman was stopped near the intersection of Louisa and Tecumseh streets around 1:20 a.m. when the armed man approached the driver’s side window of her blue 2019 Chevrolet Malibu, according to a preliminary report.
She got out of the car, and the carjacker drove away in an unknown direction, police said.
NOPD also reported an armed robbery in the Broadmoor neighborhood Thursday night (April 18).
When a 21-year-old man got out of his car in the 4900 block of South Galvez Street, a man approached him from behind and pointed a handgun toward him, police said.
After the armed man demanded the car keys, the 21-year-old refused and started to run on South Galvez Street toward Napoleon Avenue. They both stopped once they reached Napoleon Avenue and the suspect then fled, police said.
A non-fatal shooting in the 7th Ward and two homicides—one in Pines Village neighborhood of New Orleans East and another in St. Roch—were also reported in the overnight crime log between Thursday and Friday.
