One man was killed and two others were injured in a shooting in Marrero Wednesday night, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting occurred in the 6100 block of Ray Street at 8:55 p.m. Two male victims were taken to hospitals, and one -- a 39-year-old man -- died. The other victim, a 29-year-old man, was in stable condition, a JPSO spokesman said.
A third victim, 22 years old, was taken to a hospital and was listed in critical condition.
Authorities cordoned off the intersection of Admiral Drive and Ray Street, where investigators gathered in the front yard of a brick ranch-style house. Several people stood near the front door of the home.
At least four or five officers in bulletproof vests gathered in the corner of a yard cater-corner corner to the home where detectives were gathered.
Two fire trucks and several JPSO vehicles were on scene.
A man at the scene, T.C. Hawkins, said he received a call from a relative telling him that his nephew, who is in his 30s, had been shot. He said he did not know the condition of his nephew, who works offshore but lives in the neighborhood with his older relatives when home.
Hawkins and several neighbors said the shooting victim works on cars and motorcycles when home.
A woman at the scene said she grew up with the shooting victims.
“They’re from a fine family,” she said.
