The first location outside of Atlanta closed without notice on May 5
Goldberg’s Fine Foods, a New York-style bagel shop and deli that originated in Atlanta, closed this weekend after one year in a leased 6,500 square foot space in the CBD.
The restaurant, located at the corner of Common Street and Roosevelt Way and adjacent to The Roosevelt Hotel, opened last May along with an upscale barber shop as “featured retail” on the ground floor of the 925 Common Apartments. Now, doors are locked, its Facebook page says “permanently closed,” and the most recent Yelp review from Sunday, May 5, says an employee the patron encountered while trying to enter had received no advance word of plans to close. The apartment building also confirmed Goldberg’s is no more, saying it closed yesterday.
The huge restaurant sat 160, had full service cocktail and coffee bars, and served breakfast all day as well as lunch and dinner. The original Goldberg’s began in 1972 and has nine locations around Atlanta, including two at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta. The CBD location was the first Goldberg’s outside Atlanta.
Eater will update this article with more information if messages to Goldberg’s corporate offices are returned.
