A stranger knocked on a 28-year-old man’s door and called his name, before striking him in the head and robbing him at his Mid-City home Thursday afternoon (May 16), New Orleans police said.
The 28-year-old told police he heard a knock on his door in the 4200 block of Ulloa Street around 2 p.m. After he refused to hand over his property to the stranger demanding it at his door, the person struck him in the head with an unknown object and then fled, police said in an initial report.
Police said the suspected robber was armed, but did not identify a weapon in an initial report. It was not immediately clear what the person stole from the 28-year-old.
Two additional armed robberies and a carjacking were reported Thursday:
St. Roch.: Two armed men in a brown Honda CR-V pulled up to a Shell gas station in the 1100 block of Franklin Avenue around 9:30 a.m. Thursday. One of the men entered the gas station, pulled out a firearm and then robbed the station, police said in an initial report. It was not clear what was stolen.
Mid-City: A 44-year-old man saw a black SUV parked outside his house in the 4200 block of Baudin Street around 11:10 a.m. Thursday, police said. An armed man got out of the car, grabbed the 44-year-old by the left shoulder and demanded the keys to his truck. The 44-year-old complied and the armed man fled in the 44-year-old’s silver Ford F-150 pickup.
New Orleans East: After a 33-year-old woman pulled over to use her GPS in the 9000 block of Chef Menteur Highway, a man knocked on her window and showed her his firearm, police said.
