




A second man is in custody following an officer-involved shooting early Monday morning (June 17) in Uptown, New Orleans police said.
As of 7:30 a.m. Monday, a SWAT and police officers were actively staging a perimeter and searching for a suspect in the area around the 4900 block of Prytania Street, where three officers had initially responded to an armed robbery call. NOPD spokesman Gary Scheets said gunfire exchange started inside the CVS in the block, which sits near the intersection of Prytania and Upperline streets.
One officer was shot in the left shoulder and taken to a hospital for treatment, police said. The officer’s condition was not immediately available. A second person was injured in the same shooting, NOPD said.
Shortly before 9 a.m., officers found and arrested a third person believed to have been involved in the shootout. The third suspect was injured, though the nature of his injuries and whether they were related to the shootout was not immediately clear, Scheets said.
