A cold front approaches going into Monday and Tuesday. Rain chances will go up. It does not look like there will be a clean passage. The European and GFS models show the front hanging out for a couple of days giving us off and on rain.
The Mississippi River is still over 16 feet. It is forecast to drop to 15.5 feet on July 24th. That is the trigger point for the closing of the Spillway. The Corps meets Monday to look at the forecast and decide the timing of the closing of the Spillway. The Mississippi River is forecast to drop below 15 feet by July 30th. It has been 15 feet or above for the past 159 days.
