The Mississippi River at New Orleans is now at 15.38 feet. The river has been at 15 feet or above for 166 days. The Spillway has now been opened for the second time for 77 days. 30 bays closed on the Spillway today. That means 64 bays remain open. All bays on the Spillway should be closed Sunday. This flood fight is longer than the flood fight in 1973.
Tropical moisture begins to return Friday afternoon as an onshore flow will develop. Rain chances increase through the weekend and into next week. Locally heavy rain in storms, along with gusty winds and lightning.
