Algiers Point might be the most Mayberry-esque neighborhood in New Orleans. That’s because of its small-town vibes, quaint collection of cafes and bars, paved levee trails, and neighborhood traditions (fireworks viewing, Christmas bonfires, and a summer concert series, to name a few). Algiers Point also has some of the lowest crime rates in Orleans Parish.

Situated on the West Bank, it’s a five-minute ferry ride across the Mississippi River from downtown New Orleans—and while that distance is a deterrent for some urbanites, it’s a boon for homeowners who prefer a little peace and quiet to go with their traditional New Orleans architecture.
