Impossible burgers, vegan Philly cheesesteaks, and plant-based soul food
New Orleans has long been an eating paradise for nearly everyone except vegans, but with bakeries, soul food joints, and dim sum spots taking root, a vibrant vegan food culture is thriving in New Orleans. Add to that all the carnivore-friendly spots that serve enticing vegan options, like Killer Po-boys’ roasted sweet potato po-boy or DTB’s vegan mushroom boudin balls. For this map, restaurants included are either all vegan or have a lot of vegan options.
Note that longtime vegan favorite Seed is currently closed after a change in ownership, but is projected to reopen on Prytania Street soon, again with an all-vegan menu. The Bywater neighborhood awaits the return of Sneaky Pickle, close to reopening after a fire last spring. And finally, the chef of popular vegan Taiwanese-Chinese pop-up Midnight Noodle has a new restaurant in his sights.
