Elizabeth Street Cafe will open a second location in New Orleans’s forthcoming Saint Vincent Hotel
A popular Austin Vietnamese restaurant is expanding to New Orleans, opening a second location in the forthcoming Saint Vincent Hotel, as first reported by Austin Monthly. Elizabeth Street Cafe is from McGuire Moorman Hospitality (MMH), an Austin-based restaurant group that has opened 12 restaurants in the city and one in Aspen, Colorado.
Eater Austin describes Elizabeth Street Cafe as a “stylish, charming” Vietnamese cafe plus French bakery serving pastries in the morning and Vietnamese classics like pho, bánh cuôn, and bánh mì for lunch and dinner. The restaurant opened in 2011, at the time the third from MMH, which is run by Larry McGuire and Tom Moorman.
The boutique hotel will also include another new restaurant from MMH — a “coastal Italian restaurant focused on Gulf seafood.”
The Saint Vincent Hotel is a joint venture between MMH and Liz Lambert, founder and owner of Austin hotel group Bunkhouse. It would appear it’s being developed in the former St. Vincent Guest House, a historic Lower Garden District landmark and former budget hotel and hostel that was bought in 2017 by real estate company Kupperman Companies.
Eater has reached out to MMH and Bunkhouse to confirm the Saint Vincent Hotel’s location. The hotel and the two restaurants it will house are projected to open in Fall 2020.
