Paloma Cafe and Revelator at American Can were closed due to “reallocating resources and existing weak real estate”
Revelator Coffee Company has closed its charming Bywater restaurant Paloma Cafe, two years after moving into the corner spot that once housed Cafe Henri and Booty’s Street Food. Revelator’s third and most recent New Orleans location in Mid City’s American Can building has also closed, the company confirmed to Eater today, December 2.
Led by Compere Lapin alums Danny Alas and Justin Rodriguez, Paloma Cafe served Latin and Caribbean-inspired fare from breakfast to evening, an eclectic mix of cocktails and wine, and of course, Revelator coffee. Since opening in January 2018, it seemed to strike a balance between neighborhood cafe and weekend brunch tourist destination, likely drawing in out-of-towners with the familiar coffee brand name that’s been sweeping the South for years.
A spokesperson for Birmingham-based Revelator confirmed the closures to Eater, saying in part that “as we head into the New Year, Revelator’s team is restructuring retail with a focus on better supporting our top-performing stores — and part of that means reallocating resources and existing weak real estate.”
Revelator’s newest New Orleans location, in Mid City’s American Can apartments, opened just ten months ago. The original Tchoupitoulas Street location remains open. Revelator currently has outposts in Alabama, California, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Tennessee.
