The Canal Place restaurant is now open
After making its Louisiana debut with restaurants at the new Louis Armstrong airport terminal and in Metairie, Shake Shack’s flagship location in Downtown’s Canal Place opened yesterday, December 3.
The 3,411-square-foot Shack is on the ground floor of the Shops at Canal Place rather than in the food court, a space that took over part of the Brooks Brothers store. There’s also an entrance from the street at its location at the corner of Canal and North Peters streets. According to a press release, the restaurant’s booths are made from lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, with table tops made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes.
Known for its hormone-and-antibiotic-free burgers, chicken, and hot dogs, the location at will also serve wine and local beers from Abita Brewery, Nola Brewing Company, Dixie Beer and Second Line Brewing.
The first Louisiana location of the mega burger chain opened in Metairie in July, followed by the MSY outpost when the new airport opened late last month. The three new Louisiana Shake Shacks are part of a big year of expansion for Danny Meyer’s highly successful fast food venture — it now has 260 locations in 27 U.S. states and more than 70 international locations.
The Canal Place Shake Shack is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
