High today was 77 at the Airport, so it was not as warm as yesterday with a high of 81, or the day before with a record high of 82. A little cooler Friday with highs near 70, but back into the mid to upper 70s Saturday ahead of the cold front early in the evening.
That cold front is going to change things big time! Highs Sunday will be in the low 50s. Lows Monday will be near 30 Northshore to mid to upper 30s South. Highs near 50. It's going to be breezy too. Going out to Martin Luther King, Junior Day be aware of the cold weather. It will be sunny though!
Colder Tuesday morning with lows mid to upper 20s Northshore to low to mid 30s South. Highs will be in the low 50s again. Some freezing temps possible again Wednesday morning on the Northshore, but a warm up begins. Northshore will likely need to protect tender vegetation Monday and Tuesday, and maybe Wednesday. South Shore may have some freezing temps away from the lakes Tuesday morning. This is something to monitor.
Remember 2 years ago on the 16th and 17th? We had an arctic outbreak with freezing rain, sleet and snow. The causeway closed due to icing. We had ice chunks on the steps at the lakefront. Record lows happened on the 17th. 14 at Hammond, 15 Slidell, 17 Gulfport, 20 Airport, 20 Lakefront. Highs were only in the mid 30s.
