The Mississippi River is high again. Right now at 16.46 feet. Flood stage is 17 feet, but the Metro is protected up to 20 feet and even higher in a few places. The River is forecast to crest at 16.9 feet March 4th, and then begin to fall March 8th. There are 19 minor seepage points at this time. The Corps of Engineers looks at the flow of water past the Metro. It is forecast to get up to 1.25 million cubic feet per second. When the River reaches that speed, and the forecast is for the river to continue to rise, then the Spillway is opened. At this point, that is not the forecast. Will keep you posted.
Chilly weather forecast for the next couple of days with lows in the low 30s on the Northshore and mid 30s to near 40 South. A little warmer during the day Friday. Highs climb in to the low to mid 60s. Sunny Saturday with highs in the upper 60s, and even warmer Sunday with highs in the low to mid 70s.
