The Mississippi River at New Orleans is now at 16.75 feet. The Metro is protected up to 20 feet. The River is forecast to crest at 16.9 feet late Wednesday into Sunday, and then begin a fall. The Corps of Engineers will not open the Spillway with this high water event.
The weather begins to improve Thursday. Some showers will linger Thursday morning, but then skies will clear going into the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 60s. Sunny skies forecast Friday and Saturday. It will be chilly in the morning. Lows Saturday morning will drop into the mid 30s Northshore to mid 40s South. Highs will be in the low to mid 60s. Warmer Sunday with some clouds beginning to move into the area.
Don't forget about Daylight Saving Time! Turn your clock ahead one hour before going to sleep Saturday night. Sadly, we lose an hour of sleep.
