A running list of the New Orleans food events canceled due to coronavirus guidelines

The spring season in New Orleans is known as festival season, a time when residents revisit their favorite food vendors for a soft shell crab po-boy and fire up their barbecue pits for a competition in all things pork. But as the novel coronavirus pandemic forces increasing restrictions on public gatherings, the city’s food festivals, competitions, and events are being called off daily. To help keep track, here’s a running list of the New Orleans food-related events that have been canceled or postponed amid new coronavirus guidelines. This post will be continually updated.

Did we miss a cancellation? Know of a restaurant closing or altering service due to coronavirus concerns? Let us know.

An Edible Evening 2020 — The Edible School Yard’s annual garden party/fundraiser featuring a slew of the city’s top restaurants has been canceled.

French Quarter Festival — The 2020 French Quarter Festival, known as much for the food vendors as the music, has been postponed from its original dates next month until October.

Hogs for the Cause — The annual charity barbecue festival and competition, scheduled to take place at the UNO Lakefront Arena on March 27 and 28, has been canceled.

Krewe of Red Beans’ Bean Madness Tournament — The Krewe of Red Beans canceled its annual Bean Madness, a series of competitive red beans tastings and block parties.

New Orleans Bourbon Festival — The fourth annual Bourbon Festival has been postponed, with festival organizers saying they will honor tickets at the rescheduled event.

New Orleans Wine and Food Experience — The five-day gathering of wine makers and enthusiasts has been postponed; tickets will be honored for a date later in 2020.
