The Mississippi River is now 15.29 feet. The River is still in phase two when it is over 15 feet. That means the Corps of Engineers is still inspecting the levees daily. May 17th the River will drop below 15 feet. The Corps will then go to inspecting the levees twice a week.
Early development in the Tropics does happen. Models are indicating the potential for a low pressure to develop at the beginning of next week near the Bahamas or off the Southeast Coast of the US. This is where most early development of tropical weather happens. This would have absolutely no impact on us. It's just interesting. Hurricane Season begins June 1.
