A number of restaurants have said they won’t resume dine-in service during phase one of New Orleans’s reopening
Restaurants in New Orleans are allowed to resume dine-in service with 25 percent occupancy tomorrow, May 16, as long as they utilize a reservation or appointment system for potential contact tracing. The announcement that restaurant dining rooms would be included in the city’s first phase of reopening came with just four days notice, surprising many who anticipated more restrictive phase one guidelines than the state’s and leaving restaurants with little time to prepare accordingly.
Some restaurants in the area — all three local Hooters for instance — have announced plans to reopen their dining rooms tomorrow. More have announced dates for next week (Donald Link restaurants Peche and Cochon will resume dine-in service on May 20) or are working towards resuming dine-in service later this month. Still, some are choosing to remain takeout-only through phase one, citing the health and safety of employees and patrons and the need for more time to implement adequate measures.
Below is a list of restaurants holding off on reopening dining rooms, either remaining closed for the time being or continuing takeout and delivery until further notice. Check individual restaurants’ social media for the most up-to-date status and additional reopening plans. This list will continue to be updated as more restaurants announce their plans.
