This is the 6th year in a row for tropical development before the official start of Hurricane Season. The first tropical storm of the Atlantic Hurricane Season did not make landfall. It did come within 20 miles of Cape Hatteras. Arthur is now moving NE away from land. Max winds are 50 mph, but those stronger winds are on the East side of the system. It may intensify some as it loses tropical characteristics. It is expected to dissipate by the end of the week.
Hurricane Season begins June 1st and lasts through November 30th. Tropical weather can happen anytime of the year, but it is more likely to happen August through October.
