The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an elongated area of low pressure along the NE Coast of Florida. The system does not look like much right now. It really only has through Wednesday morning to develop if it moves over the warm water. The system is forecast to move onshore by Wednesday night.
Hurricane Season begins June first and lasts through November 30th. Tropical weather can happen anytime of the year, it is just more likely during that time period. The most active part of Hurricane Season is August, September and October. We have already had a tropical storm this Season. Arthur formed in May. This is the 6th year we have had early development. Early development is not an indicator of an active season, but out of the past five years only one was below average.
