Expect winds to increase Wednesday and Thursday. As Laura pushes North, water will be pushed onshore. The size of Laura and the intensity will determine how much water. A storm surge watch is posted. West of the River there is the potential for a 4-6 foot water rise. Rain chances go up Wednesday. Expect rain to increase during the day especially over Terrebonne parish and that rain will move North. As Laura moves North over West Louisiana, a tail of Laura may move over Southeast Louisiana. There will be the potential for locally heavy rain, and even tornadoes.
Right now tropical force winds extend out 175 miles from the Center. The forecast track of Laura has shifted a little to the west. There is the potential for more shifts. New Orleans is within 175 miles of the forecast center of Laura as it moves onshore.
Stay weather aware as information will change as Laura Develops. Laura is forecast to become a hurricane Tuesday.
