Now a 90% chance tropical development for a broad low in the Atlantic about 700 miles WSW of the Cabo Verde Islands. The system is becoming better organized. Some banding features are evident. It will likely become a tropical depression within a couple of days. It is moving WNW 15-20 mph.
Now a 60% chance tropical development for a tropical wave moving into the Caribbean. it is disorganized and is dealing with dry air and wind shear. Later in the week there is the potential for conditions to become favorable for development. A tropical depression may form in the West Caribbean later this week.
This is the 51st anniversary of Camille. it was a devastating hurricane that hit the Mississippi Gulf Coast near Waveland and Pass Christian about 11pm on this date. Winds were 175 mph. The storm surge was 24.2 feet.
