Sally moved onshore near Gulf Shores at 4:45 am with 105 mph winds. It was a Cat 2, and moving really slowly. The big problem with Sally is storm surge and very heavy rain. As Sally moves away from the warm water, it will diminish.
Now we are watching another system in the SW Gulf. NHC has a 70% chance for tropical development, and a tropical depression is possible this weekend. The GFS model takes it close to the Mouth of the River, but there is also a cold front in the area. It may be that the rain will be more likely along the Coast. The Euro model earlier today took the system onshore in Mexico. That model has now changed. It keeps it in the SW Gulf for a few days, then begins to move it North. The RPM Model also takes it North. This will be one to monitor over the next few days and even into next week.
