Hurricane Watch [ Local Stories]

Zeta is bigger. Hurricane force winds extend out 45 miles from the center, and tropical force winds extend out 140 miles from the center.

Zeta's forecast track has shifted a little more to the East. We are still in the cone. The cone shows where the center goes 2/3 of the time, and 1/3 of the time the center is out of the cone. Zeta is much larger than the cone, so impacts are felt well outside of the cone. The worst weather is at landfall, and to the East of landfall. Storm surge and tornadoes are higher on the East side. Storm surge watch posted Intracoastal City to Navarre, Florida. 2-4 foot surge forecast for area lakes. From Port Fourchon to Dauphin Island, there is a 4-6 foot storm surge forecast. Rainfall of 2-6 inches is possible along the track. The Euro model is a little lower on rainfall. Hurricane watch is posted from Morgan City to the Mississippi Alabama border. Tropical force winds look to develop along the coast Wednesday afternoon with hurricane force wind gusts possible Wednesday night into early Thursday. Power outages are likely.
