Watching Tropical Depression Eta which is now in the Gulf of Honduras. As it moves over warm water around 90 degrees, it will intensify. Eta is forecast to become a storm Friday, and then head towards Cuba Sunday, Florida Straits Sunday, and into the Gulf of Mexico Monday. There is the potential for some heavy rain to move north over Florida late Sunday into early Monday. Hopefully this will move in well after the Saints Game, but it will be something to monitor. Right now it looks like the main activity with Eta will stay to our East. It does not look like a perfectly formed system. Right now it is forecast to be a tropical storm, not a hurricane. Just be aware that it will likely hang out in the East Gulf next week.
