NHC official forecast takes Eta into the Gulf of Honduras Thursday night and becomes a storm again Friday. It is forecast to move over Central Cuba and cause heavy rain there. It is then forecast to possibly move into the Gulf of Mexico Monday as a tropical storm with winds of 60 mph.
When you look at Eta, there are a couple of circulations. One is moving into the Pacific, and some forecast models do take Eta into the Pacific. One circulation is over Honduras. The question is whether it will survive the mountains. There is a low pressure gyre with heavy rain well removed from the center. It will be interesting to see what develops in the Caribbean. Is there the potential for new development...maybe a Theta?
