Eta is a little stronger. Max winds are 65 mph. Officially moving NNE 9 mph. The center is on the SW side of the deep convection. Eta is moving over warm water in the mid to upper 80s. It is also moving over an area it moved over before. There should be some upwelling of cooler waters. It may become a hurricane briefly, but dry air and wind shear will likely knock it down before landfall. Landfall now may be Thursday near Cedar Keys. This is a huge change in the track. The upper level trough looks to be steering it faster to the NE.
We are also watching Theta in the far East Atlantic. It has 70 mph winds and is moving ENE 12 mph. It will diminish in intensity before it approaches any land. It is now 770 miles SW of the Azores.
Now 80% chance tropical development in the Caribbean for a tropical wave moving West over warm water. It is forecast to become a depression late this week or this weekend. It may become the 30th storm of the 2020 Hurricane Season. Unfortunately it looks to move onshore near where Eta moved onshore in Nicaragua.
