There is an area of low pressure to our east that is igniting storms along a frontal boundary that will stall along the Northern Gulf of Mexico, this week. Over the next few days there is an Excessive Rain Risk that may lead to a low risk of flash flooding for areas near rivers, creeks and small streams in Southeast Louisiana. Rainfall potential is fairly high if you think about nearly .50-3.00" inches of rain possibly per day. This week, some of the highest rainfall totals may fall over coastal waters, but it's the rain that gradually flows into areas that have frequent flooding events, or poor drainage that cause issues of ponding that can lead to flooding. Debris flows that stack up in rivers, and creeks cause water levels to eventually rise. Add in daily rainfall and you may find stressed natural water transports within our ecosystem initiating a domino effect creating flash flooding events. Property, livelihoods and lives changed.Note: Only a low risk for flash flooding for Southeast Louisiana.
