A man was robbed at knifepoint in the French Quarter at around 10 p.m. Monday (April 22) during one of three armed robberies reported in New Orleans overnight, NOPD said.

The man was approached by a stranger who asked him for a cigarette while he was walking in the 400 block of Burgundy Street, according to an NOPD preliminary report of major incidents. The victim told the stranger he had cash inside the wrapping of his cigarette box. The stranger pulled out a knife from his waistband and demanded the man’s money. The victim threw the cigarette box and ran into a nearby bar, according to police. The suspect who is described as a tall, thin male with gold teeth fled on foot on St. Louis Street heading to North Rampart Street.

New Orleans police responded to another armed robbery and one simple robbery Monday.

At around 9:30 p.m. a man was shot in the abdomen in the Little Woods neighborhood in New Orleans East during an armed robbery. Police are looking for two suspects who were wearing burgundy hooded jackets during the robbery. The condition of the victim was not provided Tuesday morning.
