Will keep space for catering, events, and pop-ups
The second location of popular vegan restaurant Seed to St. Claude Avenue closed this week after opening just last fall, with owners saying the location will be be used for catering, private events, cooking classes, and pop-ups.
A Facebook post yesterday announcing the closure of table service at the address notes that the Lower Garden District’s Prytania Street location, opened in 2014 with satisfying vegan takes on American comfort food, remains open seven days a week.
The previous tenant at 2372 St. Claude Avenue, Spotted Cat Food & Spirits, was also short-lived, lasting under a year after opening in February of 2017. The Marigny location was intended as a locals-friendly expansion of the popular Spotted Cat Music Club on Frenchman Street, serving all-day breakfast and weekend brunch with live music acts daily.
Seed’s closure follows the loss of another vegan favorite, the nearby Sneaky Pickle, which is closed after a fire destroyed the back of the restaurant, though is hosting fundraisers and pop-ups at neighboring restaurants with plans to rebuild and reopen.
