Woman cuts 21-year-old after he tries to intervene in French Quarter fight, police say


New Orleans police reported a cutting and three robberies between Friday (May 10) and Saturday (May 11).

After a 21-year-old man saw a fight in the French Quarter and tried to intervene, a woman cut him in the hand with a knife Saturday (May 11), New Orleans police said.

The woman, who police said is approximately 5 feet, 3 inches tall and was wearing a tight-fitting dress and tan boots, was in a “physical altercation” in the 400 block of Bourbon Street. When the 21-year-old tried to intervene, the woman took out a knife and cut him in his hand. Then, she ran toward Canal Street, police said.

The 21-year-old was treated for his injuries on the scene. The cutting occurred around 3:30 a.m.

Police also reported the following three robberies Friday and Saturday:

Woman steals iPhone in French Quarter Friday afternoon

While a 25-year-old woman was walking near the intersection of North Peters and Canal streets, someone approached her from behind, grabbed her iPhone and ran, police said.

The suspected robber had long hair and was wearing a long-sleeved black shirt, gray shorts and a gray and black flat-brimmed hat, according to an initial police report.

The robbery occurred around 4:40 p.m.

Woman wanted in connection to robbery on St. Charles Avenue

Kenyatta Stubbs, 34, asked a 39-year-old woman to use her phone several times while they were in the 2400 block of St. Charles Avenue around 8 p.m. Friday, police said.

After the 39-year-old woman refused, Stubbs snatched the phone and “walked off with it,” police said. Stubbs is wanted in connection to the robbery.

2 men rob 41-year-old at gunpoint in New Orleans East

Two men, one of them armed, approached a 41-year-old man and demanded his property near the intersection of Lake Forest and Crowder boulevards around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, police said.

After the 41-year-old handed over cash and his ID card, one of the men punched him. Then, both suspected robbers ran away, police said.

NOPD also reported two non-fatal shootings: one in Hollygrove Friday night and another in Gentilly Woods Saturday morning.
