Iota is a major cat 5 hurricane with 160 mph winds. It is moving towards NE Nicaragua close to where Eta made landfall November 3rd. It will make landfall tonight. The weather is already going downhill. Winds of 160 mph possible. 10-30 inches of rain. 15-20 foot storm surge.
Iota is the latest Cat 5 on record. The last was the November 8th Cuba Hurricane of 1932. It had 175 mph winds, but diminished to a cat 4 at landfall. There have now been 4 major hurricanes since we moved into the Greek alphabet this year.
