One of the major reasons so many feature films have flocked to New Orleans is the 2002-implemented Motion Picture Investor Tax Credit, through which Louisiana grants a production company a 30 percent deductible for the total in-state spending related to the production of a motion picture, and an additional 5 percent deductible for the hiring of Louisiana residents. A production must spend at least $300,000 in Louisiana to qualify for benefits.
